In this intensive two-day class, students embark on a journey to deepen their comprehension of delivering value and effectively conveying it both within and outside their organization. Through a series of case study-driven exercises and expert instruction, students acquire the indispensable entrepreneurial product leadership skills and practices that are pivotal for success as a Product Owner. The multifaceted role of a Product Owner demands a versatile approach, extending beyond the core principles of Agility and the Scrum framework. Students delve into various Product Owner “stances,” encompassing gaining customer insights, championing the product vision, prioritizing innovation, making informed decisions, fostering collaboration, and mastering the art of influence. These experiences prepare students to navigate the multifaceted landscape of the Product Owner role and excel in delivering exceptional value through agile product leadership.

Intended Audience:

This course is designed for Product Owners, Product Managers, and Business Analysts focusing heavily on Product Management skills, tools, techniques, and knowledge as part of their work on the Scrum Team. The course does not address the Scrum framework (much), and we assume people have a proper understanding of the Scrum framework. Participants should have at least one year of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, while multiple years of experience and having attended the Professional Scrum Product Owner course and passing PSPO is preferred, but not mandatory.

Professional Scrum Product Owner™ – Advanced (PSPO Advanced) Course Prerequisites:

  • Scrum Experience: You should have substantial practical experience working as a Scrum Master in a professional environment. This means you have actively fulfilled the role of a Scrum Master for a significant duration, working with Scrum Teams to facilitate Scrum events, remove impediments, and ensure the adoption of Scrum principles and practices.
  • Certification: While not always mandatory, many training providers and organizations prefer candidates to have already achieved the Professional Scrum Master™ I (PSM I) certification as a prerequisite. PSM I is considered a foundational certification, and PSM II builds upon this knowledge.
  • Scrum Knowledge: You should have a deep understanding of Scrum principles, practices, and the Scrum Guide. Familiarity with advanced Scrum topics, such as scaling Scrum, handling organizational challenges, and coaching Scrum Teams, is beneficial.
  • Interest and Commitment: PSM II training is designed for Scrum Masters who are committed to advancing their skills and knowledge to effectively address complex challenges within their teams and organizations. Your genuine interest in Scrum and continuous improvement is essential.
  • Preparation: It’s recommended to review the Scrum Guide thoroughly and refresh your knowledge of Scrum principles and practices before attending PSM II training. This will help you have a strong foundation to build upon during the course.
  • Experience Sharing: Be prepared to share your real-world experiences and challenges as a Scrum Master during the training. PSM II is highly interactive, and participants often discuss their practical experiences to gain insights and solutions.
